Assessment & Delivery Methodologies

The assessment methodologies for Certified Digital Artist (CDA) applicants has remained consistent with our initial investigations and focus group studies.

Assessment Methodology

The assessment process will be key to the success of this project. As a result we have spent a lot of time talking with key stakeholders to make sure our methodologies are above industry standards.

Based on focus group sessions, our planned assessment process will require applicants to be reviewed by an independent panel of industry professionals that have extensive experience working in the related field.

During their application, each artist will submit both webcam video recordings (soft skills) and portfolio projects (technical/creative skills) that demonstrate their abilities for each certified skill and competency.

Each applicant will be reviewed by three Reviewers to determine a pass/fail grade for each of the required skills and competencies. At this point, the results will be passed to a Lead Reviewer for quality assurance and to review any discrepancies or flagged notes. At any point if issues arise, a Supervising Reviewer will be tasked with reviewing the artists application and taking the necessary steps to achieve a fair resolution.

Delivery methodology

Vocational Education & Training is designed to teach you knowledge and specific practical skills to help you in the workplace. It's delivered in a number of ways – through schools, dual sector universities with VET courses, TAFE institutes, private registered training organisations and community colleges.

There is no direct delivery methodology for Certified Digital Artist accreditation. The accreditation is designed as a benchmark, and a guide as to the core competencies that every artist should be capable of demonstrating when applying for entry level jobs.

With this in mind, there is an obvious, and essential need for training from VET, Higher Education and Non-Accredited training institutions to deliver content to prepare students for these skills. The concept here is that CDA will provide training institutes a clear and indisputable list of skills that they should align their course content with.

The undeniable feedback from industry experts is that training can be provided by all forms of providers, regardless of accreditation or attachment to a Registered Training Organisation, or similar governing body.

Focus Group Comments

Seems like a solid approach for a more than adequate method to review applicants.
Our review process

We don't feel this is necessary. It adds more weight having industry review the work, rather than a RTO.
Response to consideration of working with Registered Training Organisations.

After the submission, if the student received a ranking for which areas their portfolio is best suited to, then the artist will have a good understanding of where they should be seeking work.
