Environment artists take direction from concept artists and directors, to turn 2D images into 3D Environments for games.
The Concept Artist in a Game Development Studio, is assigned at the very start of a project, working closely with a Director, to dream up the intended look and feel of the characters and environments in a game, in 2D form or even 3D Form.
The role of the gaming Character Artist is to design the characters in a game, starting from 2D Sketches, to 3D Render. This involves modeling and texturing the character with the relevant 3D Software.
Animators are story driven. An Animator breathes life into a modelled character by making it move, talk, and express emotions. The animation team will usually have reviews with the studio's Animation Director and the Director of the game.
